How to choose summer foundation or how to transition to summer foundation? Summer skin care is very different from the winter season. As soon as summer temperatures start to creep in, your entire makeup routine needs an overhaul. After all, when it's super hot and humid outside, most traditional cosmetics will start to melt right off of your face. Therefore, from the beginning of the hot season, we need to change the contents of our cosmetic bags as a suitable means.
It's necessary to have a perfectly smooth skin tone, regardless of what the weather is outside. But the choice of foundation for the summer should be approached with great care. The too dense texture does not allow the skin to breathe, it will start to sweat and shine. But the worst thing about it, your skin can probably become inflamed from the dirty air mixed with tonal foundation. Of course, when choosing a lighter foundation is not always possible to mask imperfections.
In search of the "golden mean", I decided to test some products of different brands and different price categories and to help you prevent that. If you've used a regular liquid foundation during the summer, then you know about the melting, pooling, and caking that can occur. In addition, most regular liquid foundations don't have SPF, which is so essential in the summer. If you want lightweight, hydrating, melt-proof coverage with SPF this summer, I recommend you to try a BB cream, tinted moisturizer, or some sort of lightweight, creamy foundation as opposed to a traditional liquid.
MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15
This Foundation creates an optical blur in which visually reduces wrinkles and evens skin tone. Reflective particles in the composition give the skin a fresh and radiant appearance. In the formula, the presence of a tonal framework of 77 minerals, Shea butter and vitamin E, which is quite good for summer. Apply your foundation with a damp sponge to give a more sheer finish. Then use the most translucent powder you can — too much powder on the tan skin can look muddy. Make sure you add some pink or peach to the apples of your cheeks for a fresh look.
CLINIQUE perfectly real makeup
It is a perfect choice for those, who prefer a lightweight, smooth foundation that fulfils its promise of looking as natural as possible. I even got several compliments about the quality of my skin. This foundation absorbs very quickly and adapts to the texture of your skin, smoothes it and gives the inner shine. Clinique states that Perfectly Real Makeup "feels like nothing at all", and they are absolutely right about it. It feels like your own skin but in a thousand times more perfect. Just try it, and you will see everything by yourselves.
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua
Of course, I could not pass by luxury brands. I'm always interested to compare products with a high price difference, as very often it turns out that a good product does not necessarily expensive. For this review, I took Vitalumiere Aqua foundation by Chanel. It has a mineral filter sun protection SPF 15, which is not bad. Chanel also promised an unusual feeling on the skin after application of the funds, as it has the texture of a new generation - weightless "tone water" instantly blends with the tone of your skin, hides the flaws and refreshes it. The texture of it is really lightweight - exactly what you need for the summer. But due to lack of density, your skin wouldn't completely cover.
Vitalumiere Aqua is able to hide only minor redness and flaws. However, for many people, this is enough. Do not try to put it more, it won't help to hide the pronounced skin problems. My advice to those of you, who have a really problematic skin, try to use another product. As for me, Vitalumiere Aqua by Chanel passes me good. I would be happy to use it in the summer period and to recommend it to all beauty-lovers.
Essence All-in-on BB cream
This Foundation provides smoothness, radiance and flawless skin and hides minor defects. And also it has a protection factor of SPF 30. The consistency is a bit heavy when you're starting to squeeze it out. Firstly, I even thought that it will go to look like a mask on my face. Do get a product that makes your skin look fresh after five hours — there’s nothing worse than muddy foundation. But, happily, no. It finally gives a nice dewy finish so I think it would be especially great for dry skin.
Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse
The next product, that I've decided to choose between the cheapest brands, is Maybelline. So I decided to try Dream Liquid Mousse. Air texture of the product seemed to be the ideal choice for the summer. The description from the manufacturer stated that the tone of the substrate comprises silicon, which gives the skin matte and hides all the shortcomings. My fear, that the cream will lay unevenly, fortunately, did not materialize. During the day, the effect was not felt the tightness of the skin or somehow else, but by the evening the perfect tone had disappeared somewhere.
According to my calculations, the cream's effect actually lasts up to 4 hours, and then a little shine begins to appear, although my skin is not such a problematic at all. In general, I would say that the Dream Liquid Mousse from Maybelline is not quite good according to a long-lasting effect. But the product does its job, however only for a short period of time.
So, as you can see, almost all these products are extremely good at providing medium to full coverage while staying put on your face throughout a hot summer day. For the most natural look, choose a formula with coverage as light as your skin can handle. Young, even-toned skin can get away with sheer formulas; complexions with more problem areas will need more pigmented foundation. In the summer heat, it's important to go with a lightweight, mineral powder to set your foundation - any others will make you feel like you're wearing pounds of make-up.
I hope that my article will help you to choose summer foundation. And I would appreciate, if you share with me some of your thoughts, about which products do you often use? Have you ever tried any of these products before? What is your summer makeup routine? Let me know in the comments below!
