HOW TO CHOOSE A PROPER PRIMER?

Did you know that you can actually align your skin tone, highlight it, or even extend the durability of make-up, simply using the proper primer? Today I’m going to share with you some secrets about how to choose a primer or even to find the perfect one. Primer is normally intended to let your cosmetics last longer on your face and not let the bright shade to slide or fade. Your favorite matte lipstick won’t emphasize peeling and won’t float away over the contour of your lips after a couple of hours.

As a daily cream or tonal basis, the primer should be chosen depending on the skin type and its condition. Classic primers tend not only prolong the life of make-up, but also smoothes pores and reduces redness. Matte primers tend to save oily skin from the light, other – refresh a skin tone and the primers from the Korean cosmetics brands, for example, thanks to their illuminating effect help those, who has a very light skin.

At the same time, some brands, like Make Up For Ever and Smashbox, go even further and offer to choose a primer not only based on the type of your skin, but also as a product to solve specific problems, such as rosacea or redness, pigmentation, dry skin and so on.

The shadows base is needed for those, who are not indifferent to the bright matte shades that are usually fade away very quickly. Lip Primer also works best with bright colours and matte textures: the balm will smooth out the dryness, which inevitably emphasize matte lipstick, and moisturize your lips.

Many primers are fully capable to replace foundation or powder – is a way out for those who do not like the feeling of a skin, covered with layers and layers of cosmetics, and for those who is not ready to go out with a naked face.

  • I use Laura Mercier Foundation Primer for my Base and UD Primer for my eyeshadow. Both work great. I am tempted to swap for LM Hydrating or Radiance Primer next. For now I just add a little of liquid highlighter to my primer 🙂 great post as usual hun x

I don’t really buy primers, I use my porefessional usually and it’s lasted me so long. It seems to work ok but I have quite troublesome skin so I’m sure there’s a better one out there! I wish I could try them all!

  • I love the smash box primer and urban decay primer!! Soooo good.

  • I never tried any of these, but how about the Tony Moly one? does it good? Because I have the face mix base make up and I really like it. It’s just not filling up the pores.

    • As long as it is a Korean product, I would say, these guys really know what they do and produce really great stuff.

  • Loved reading this it was so informative!
